An aerodynamic enhancement to boost your turbine’s energy production

For rotor blades on pitch-regulated wind turbines, limits on blade twist and chord length can lead to suboptimal aerodynamic performance and, as a result, undesired airflow separation – known as aerodynamic stall. This can have a significant impact on wind turbine efficiency, as well as generating additional noise.

3MTM Wind Vortex Generators are thermoplastic aerodynamic enhancements for rotor blades that address these issues. Easily attached to a turbine’s blades, they can increase annual energy production by between 2 and 3 percent, while also extending the turbine’s service life. Wind Vortex Generators can be adapted to different blade types, and have a payback period of between 1 and 2 years.
